All current and active members of the Fleet will receive a training schedule via email on Wednesday, 12/1.  This will include Wednesday workouts as well as training suggestions for the rest of the week.

Exciting events on the horizon: Ithaca College is hosting a USATF regional championship in February along with at least one youth skill clinic, and Finger Lakes Running Club is continuing with their Winter Chill 5K series.  We encourage our runners to participate in both!  Remember: mood follows movement -- so keep active all winter and stay happy!!

Practices will be held at the Lansing Track (Sobus Field, Brickyard Road).  Plan to bring a water bottle and watch.

  • Practice times will be set by age and experience level.
  • Sign up by June 15 for our summer training sessions (July 1-August 30).
  • Membership to the club is $30 per runner* and is valid for the entire calendar year.
  • We are currently accepting registrations for athletes in grades 4-12+ for participation starting July 1.(We may be able to offer a broader age range IF we have more volunteers.)

Anticipated Summer 2021 practice schedule (subject to change)
  • Tuesdays: 5-6pm Grades 7-8, 6-7:30pm Grades 9-12+

Registration is now open for 2021 memberships. The fee is $30 per athlete for this calendar year and includes all Finger Lakes Fleet practices, time trials, and intra-club races. Entry fees to community, Junior Olympic, or USATF races are not included and additional fees may apply for association memberships, apparel/uniforms, equipment, etc. Inability to pay need not be an obstacle to joining; waivers for fees may be available upon request.

We are accepting registrations for athletes in grades 6-12. Other athletes may be accepted upon request and approval from coaches.

At this time, we are planning to hold practices for athletes in grades 6-8 and grades 9-12 separately. Our schedule is subject to change in accordance with the interscholastic running offerings available to our athletes.

Anticipated schedule for 1/4/2021-2/28/2021
FLF practice for high school athletes: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 3-4pm
FLF practice for middle school athletes: Wednesday and Thursday from 3-4pm

Anticipated starting 3/1/2021 (Section IV Fall II XC Season begins)
FLF practices for high school athletes: Sunday, 3-4:30pm
FLF practices for middle school athletes: Sunday, 2-3pm

Welcome!

The pandemic through which we are all living has brought so many unexpected things, including some opportunities along the way.  This club is one such opportunity.  Forming a USATF youth club has been an idea that has been rolling around in my brain for years now, and with interscholastic running on hold in Section IV, now seems like a window of opportunity for this seed of an idea to be cultivated and grown.

That said, safety and health must be prioritized, and so our interactions will be limited during this time of social distancing.  We are only accepting registrations for runners ages 13-18 who live within the Lansing Central School district boundaries.  Practices will be 60-90 min, outdoors only, with no access to indoor facilities (including restrooms).  Masks are required as is a health self-screening, and temperatures will be checked upon arrival.  Runners must be registered members of the club as well as indicate attendance on the TeamSnap app.  If fewer than five people indicate they will attend the practice, we may cancel that practice.  We are currently allowing up to 20 runners to attend a practice.  All participants will be expected to abide by club policies.]]>
